About Post-Communist Colby

Hello, world! My name is Colby, and I have been selected to receive a Fulbright grant to Bulgaria for the ’15-’16 academic year. I will be serving as an English teaching assistant (ETA) for a local high school in the city of Pazardjik.

I graduated in the Class of 2015 at George Mason University, having studied Philosophy, Sociology, and Russian. I also conducted an undergraduate research project, the results of which I hope to publish in a scholarly journal in the near future.

The purpose of this site is, firstly, to keep friends and family back in the States somewhat up-to-date on my doings in Bulgaria. Individual contact will occur, of course, but I feel having a general publication such as this will enable me to inform more people more efficiently. Also, as part of the Fulbright program, the goal of which is cultural exchange, I hope this blog might teach a bit about Bulgaria to Americans back home. Finally, running a blog like this will help me to document my own experiences for reflection later.

This site is not an official Fulbright Program site. The views expressed on this site are entirely those of its author and do not represent the views of the Fulbright Program, the U.S. Department of State, or any of its partner organizations.
